Adoptive Parenting

Developmental issues surrounding adoption, the role of birth parents in the adoption process and guidelines for adoptive parents to help children understand their adoption story. Introduction to various adoption opportunities: public agency, private agency, independent adoption, international adoption, closed adoption and open adoption.
Foster Parenting

Overview of the Foster Care Programs, health issues and impact of fostering, child abuse (physical and sexual) dynamics, effects of child abuse on child development and self esteem/discipline issues for foster care providers.

Training for individuals interested in becoming licensed or currently licensed as foster parents in San Diego County.
